Join MATNAS at Original Story store for another workshop in our Gathered Workshop Series.

Upcycling Workshop:

Join our Sip & Sew Upcycling Workshop and learn practical techniques for creating something new from what you already have. You’ll leave with a custom winter accessory made from upcycled knits - while picking up skills you can use again and again.

We’ll provide all materials, plus light drinks and snacks - just bring yourself. Choose one of three projects: a triangle scarf, bonnet, or a balaclava. You’ll learn the basics of knit structure and how to plan, design, and cut your upcycled piece. While you’re designing, we’ll sew your project so you can take it home.

No sewing or design experience required.

Materials note: All materials are provided, but if you have an old sweater you’d like to rework into something new, feel free to bring it along.

Timing note: Depending on the complexity of your design and the number of pieces that need stitching, we may ask you to pick up your finished item up to five business days after the workshop.

About Gathered Workshop Series:

The Gathered Workshop series is a monthly creative workshop where, each session, we explore new ways to observe our surroundings and uncover inspiration in the materials already around us. Together, we’ll investigate what can be gathered from our natural environment, such as: waste materials, found objects, local techniques, and learn new practices from the people in our community, to create independently and intentionally. The series highlights that meaningful creation doesn’t require extensive resources or reaching beyond our immediate environment; instead, we can make powerful work by embracing what we already have.
